This guide explains how to create and customize the size table in your size charts.
Step 1: Expand the Editor
Click on the 'expand' icon to make sure you have enough room to create your size table.
Step 2: Create the layout for your table
In the Size chart component, click + Column or + Row to add structure.
You can also delete columns or rows or click undo or redo to revert or reapply your changes. To start from scratch, you can click on Erase content.
Step 3: Enter size data
There are two options to enter data
a) Manually
- Click any cell and type values. You can use single values (e.g., 34) or ranges (e.g., 33.5 – 34.5).
- Use the first column for size labels (e.g., XS, S, M, L, XL).
- Important: If a column should not be converted between inches and centimeters, add ** to the column title (e.g., UK**, EU**, Australia**)
b) Copy / paste
- Copy your data from a spreadsheet
- Click on the first cell of the table
- Paste with a keyboard shortcut (Mac users: ⌘+V) or (Windows users: CTRL+V)
- Important: you do not need to set the right number of columns or rows before pasting. The layout is done automatically.
- Important: If a column should not be converted between inches and centimeters, add ** to the column title (e.g., UK**, EU**, Australia**)
Step 4: Format the table
Open Column settings to control layout:
- First column is a header: keeps size labels fixed and always visible in case your customer needs to scroll to the right to see the full size chart (example: on mobile)
- Column width – Desktop: choose Variable or Fixed and set a pixel width (e.g., 150 px). We recommend always choosing Fixed.
- Column width – Mobile: choose Variable for auto-fit or Fixed to enforce a width.
Step 5: Automatic unit conversion
- Expand Automatic unit conversion and select Enable.
- Choose the Base unit you used to type values in the size table above (Inches or Centimeters).
- Pick Rounding (e.g., Automatic).
- IMPORTANT: Any column title containing ** is excluded from conversion. (This is ideal if you have international sizes and not measurements. See Step 3, Enter size data)
Step 6: Save
Click Save your changes in the save bar.
Pro Tip if your size chart is in an image
- If your size chart data is only available as an image, use a tool like ChatGPT to extract it into a table format.
- Upload the image and ask ChatGPT to convert the data into a structured table. Using this prompt.
Chat GPT Prompt
|
- Copy the extracted table data and paste it into Excel or directly into the SmartSize table.
- This method saves time and ensures no critical data is missed.
Expected Result
Your chart displays a clean table with size labels in the first column and measurements across subsequent columns. If conversion is enabled, shoppers see an IN / CM toggle above the table; columns marked with ** remain unchanged when switching units.
Additional Information
- You can paste data directly from Excel or Google Sheets; SmartSize preserves rows and columns.
- Use short, descriptive column titles. Keep the number of columns manageable for mobile devices.
- The Erase content button only clears the table; other chart components are not affected.
Troubleshooting
- Conversion not working: ensure Automatic unit conversion is enabled, values are numeric, and the correct Base unit is selected.
- A column converts but shouldn’t: add ** to the column title (e.g., UK**).
- Table looks cramped: reduce column count or set Fixed widths under Column settings.
- First column is not fixed: enable First column is a header.
- Changes not visible on the storefront: click Save and confirm the chart is linked to the product/collection and set to Active.

Would you also like me to normalize the “double asterisk” exclusion (UK, EU**) into a consistent style** (like writing UK (no conversion)
instead), or do you prefer keeping the ** notation exactly as it is?
